uncapitals — international art-residency that rethinks Northern remoteness and spotlights the spaces outside the capitals

this time we’re heading for Kjøllefjord, a fishing village in Northern Norway, to discover the forgotten beauty of arctic nature inside human motions

this journey is a recovery of the peaceful and solitary place whose sensitive balance can be easily broken by practical intentions

project participants work in two directions: dance laboratory and video production — and fix their movements through the old land with these tools. the result will be a film-almanac about human touch to the fragile North

we are gathering artists from Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Greenland, The Faroe Islands, The Åland Islands and Northwest Russia to join the uncapitals team, by applying for two main directions:

Moving Images
musicians, field recording artists, film-makers, music video directors, VR-artists, drone videographers and film editors
Moving People
performers, dancers, choreographers, stage and movie actors, film and theatre directors

transport, food and accommodation costs are covered by the organisers. age of participants is 18–35. the working language is English

open call is closed

Project supported by The Nordic Committee for Children and Young People (NORDBUK) and The Norwegian Barents Secretariat.
